01

Compare the soles without turning them into a ranking

Lems distinguishes Primal Zen from Primal 3 through their platform and fit details; its comparison identifies a higher outsole stack for Zen. That supports a useful starting distinction, but more material is not automatically more comfortable and less material is not automatically a better barefoot experience. Consider whether your ordinary day involves hard pavement, indoor floors or frequent changes between the two. Then decide how much surface feedback you actually want.

02

Heel and arch contact may decide this comparison

These models can differ around the heel and midfoot as well as under the toes. Spend time checking that area instead of assuming the same brand size will feel identical. If the heel is secure only when the laces create uncomfortable pressure over the instep, the model may be the problem. Compare the normal insole arrangements first; removing an insole changes both underfoot feel and available volume, which can obscure the reason one shoe initially felt better.
