Waterproof construction does not close the collar
Freet lists a waterproof lining and water-resistant upper for Connect 4. When comparing it with a Scrambler Trail Low WP, confirm that the Xero listing is specifically the WP version; similarly named ventilated shoes answer a different weather problem. Low collars still leave an opening above the waterproof construction. Deep puddles, stream crossings and rain running down the leg can therefore matter as much as the material description.
Consider the warm section of the route
A wet trail often includes dry uphill climbing, travel to the trailhead and time indoors afterward. Decide how much of the outing actually needs a waterproof barrier. Check whether the removable insole can be taken out for drying and whether the lacing holds your foot during descents without pinching across the tongue. Neither the word waterproof nor a lug measurement establishes wet-rock traction. Ask for outsole information that matches the surfaces you expect instead of treating weather protection as a complete hiking specification.
