PEOPLE ALSO ASK / FIT-FIRST FIELD NOTE
Are Barefoot Shoes Good for City Walking?
They can be, but pavement, distance, heat and daily carrying load influence the needed stack. Fit should remain ordinary after several thousand steps.Read the answer, then inspect the current options.

Build the decision around stops as well as steps
City use often includes standing on transport, waiting in lines and carrying shopping between walks. A comfortable brief stroll does not represent that whole day. Consider when you can sit or change shoes instead of using a daily step count as the sole measure of the task.
Choose a route you can shorten while assessing a new pair. A long cross-city errand can leave you committed to returning on foot even after the shoe becomes uncomfortable.
Urban surfaces require more than a thin flexible sole
Painted markings, polished entrances and wet paving can behave differently from dry sidewalk. Check the outsole and slow down where the surface changes; no general grip label covers every city condition.
Consider weather and building requirements too. A shoe that works outdoors may be too wet or dirty for the next indoor stop. If most of the day is hard pavement, keeping the front shape you like while choosing more cushioning is a reasonable comparison. The useful endpoint is reliable city footwear, not maximizing how much of the pavement you can feel.
