Check length without overlooking the smaller toes
Measure both feet while standing and identify the longest toe. Then look at where the shoe begins to taper. Enough room in front of the big toe is not helpful if the little toes are pushed inward against the side.
A menâs size label does not supply a universal clearance rule. Use the exact makerâs guidance, noting whether its chart gives foot length or internal shoe length. Adding the same allowance to both types of chart can produce an unnecessarily long pair.
Keep the back of the shoe under control
