Forefoot width and heel shape can differ
The useful design for a narrow heel may be broad at the toes and more shaped at the back. Do not treat the outline viewed from above as a measurement of the heel pocket. During fitting, notice whether the heel moves inside the collar while the outsole remains on the floor.
Pulling the laces extremely tight can disguise rearfoot movement while creating pressure elsewhere. Aim for ordinary, repeatable fastening rather than an elaborate adjustment needed every time you stand.
Choose closure features that solve the rearfoot issue
